Urban troubles as wild weather continues

SEATTLE-- November is a tricky month for weather in Seattle - as the National Weather Service reminds us November is the rainiest month of the year.  November is also the month when it rains leaves.

Leaves clog drains, especially the big Maple leaves, which could double as blankets for squirrels.

The Washington State Department of Transportation sent out one of its new Twitter tweets this morning about urban flooding at Rainier and 23rd in Seattle.   As this reporter checked it out, the evidence was still there, but most of the water by this time had drained off, leaving deep puddles along some curbs.

Also in Seattle, we watched as Vactor trucks ran around the Madison Valley sucking leaves out of storm drains to give the water from the next rain some place to go. We watched as Seattle Transportation street sweepers gathered up leaves off the streets, the driver saying many more will be out tomorrow it will look like he hadn't even been here.

But it's not just leaves.  A viewer sent us home video of hail hitting Olympia.

Above Fall City, JoDeane Purdie watched at a tree crew removed a big fir from the roof of her garage.  The tree is so heavy it kept crushing the garage roof onto at ractor and other equipment inside.

"It's just one of those things." Purdie said.
