SEATTLE -- Starting Friday night, there will be some changes to the Alaskan Way Viaduct on and off ramps in the SODO neighborhood as construction crews begin a major phase of the replacement project.
Starting at 7 p.m., the southbound exit to First Avenue S. will be closed. It will re-open at 5 a.m. Monday, but with a newly extended ramp all the way to S. Royal Brougham Way.
Work on the northbound SR 99 ramp will begin on Friday, February 18. Drivers should expect that closure to last six weeks, while construction crews demolish a portion of the ramp and rebuild it.
During the next several weeks, drivers should expect closures on First Avenue S. to allow crews access to the ramps.
Between February 18 and Monday, February 21, First Avenue S. will be closed between S. Royal Brougham Way and S. King Street. In addition, Railroad Way S. will be closed between Occidental Avenue S. and First Avenue S.
