SPOKANE – Spokane Police say an armed robbery at the Zip Trip on Nine Mile Road was a set up by the suspect and the clerk.
Officials say Spokane Police responded to an armed robbery just after 2 Tuesday morning. Officers and K9 units arrived to the scene and began tracking the trail in which the suspect ran from the store. Officials say it led them to a home on Royal Drive. They say they located a rifle and other evidence from the robbery.
Officials say Major Crimes Detectives continued the investigation and determined that the 13-year-old suspect and the clerk, Robert Swan, worked together to set up what appeared to be a robbery.
Officers say evidence shows the suspect entered the store, demanded money and fled on foot with an unknown amount of cash. Investigators located and spoke with the 13-year-old as well as Swan and say they gathered additional information leading them to believe it was a set up.
Police say the 13-year-old suspect was booked into Juvenile Detention for 1st degree burglary. They say Swan was booked into Spokane County Jail for 1st degree burglary, criminal conspiracy and making a false report.
