WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. - More than 200 runners participated in the 4th Annual Major Megan McClung Memorial Run on NAS Whidbey Island on Saturday.

The race is dedicated to Megan Malia Leilani McClung, who was the first female United States Marine Corps officer killed in combat during the Iraq War.

Major McClung was serving as a public affairs officer in Al Anbar Province, Iraq when she was killed in December of 2006. Her parents began the event to remember their daughter and to raise money to donate to the Semper Fi Fund.
