OLYMPIA, Wash.- The Whisenhunts adopted a girl from China to give her a better life. Thurston County prosecutors say instead, they gave her a "horrendous" one.
Donna Whisenhunt was sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexually abusing her daughter. The girl's father, Eddy Whisenhunt received an 18 year sentence last month.
The couple admitted to repeatedly raping the now nine-year-old girl starting when she was around four.
"I would like to say I'm very sorry for what happened," Donna Whisenhunt told the judge.
Whisenhunt explained she was abused as a child.
"I just pray that (the victim) can get the help she needs so she doesn't do what I did when she grows up," said Whisenhunt.
The couple's daughter is living with another family and is receiving counseling.
