The body of an Auburn man who went missing last weekend near Packwood was found Wednesday.
The family of Saykham Tiansevilay, 68, said his body was found near the top of a ridge above Williame Creek.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said it appears Tiansevilay slid approximately 40-feet down a steep embankment. It also appears he may have suffered from hypothermia. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
Tiansevilay is reportedly an experienced mushroom picker, but did not have the supplies to be outside for more than a few hours. His family said he left with street clothes and a small amount of food. They were also unsure of the exact destination he was headed.
"This is a very sad situation but a good reminder to the public how important it is to let your family know exactly where you are going, and when you will be back,” said Sheriff Steve Mansfield. “Having proper supplies and a buddy with you when going into the wilderness can make the difference between life and death"
