More than 1,000 people took to the streets to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday.

The march through downtown Seattle had a new emphasis, the fight for a $15 minimum wage.

"It's a start," said one marcher.

"These are ideals that Martin Luther King espoused as well." said another.

The official march theme was "Restore The Dream"  but the struggle for a higher minimum wage took center stage.

"Out of this bleak landscape can rise a fire for social justice," said Socialist Seattle City Council member, Kshama Sawant.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray has appointed a committee to study a minimum wage increase.  Their report is due out in April.
