SEATTLE -- Seattle police were questioning a 34-year-old man Friday and looking into whether he could be a serial “flasher” who has been striking at West Seattle schools.

Police say a 17-year-old student saw the man masturbating in a mini-van while she was walking to Chief Sealth high school Friday morning.

She ran to the school and alerted the principal, who called police.

Seattle police spokesperson Mark Jamieson says officers arrived at the intersection at 24th and Thistle so quickly that the man was still in the van. He was arrested immediately.

“She did the right thing,” said Jamieson of the teen’s quick action in the case.

Seattle police have been investigating a half dozen reports since September of men exposing themselves near West Seattle schools.  Jamieson says it is still unclear if all of those cases involve the same man.

He also says detectives are trying to determine if Friday morning’s incident is linked to any or all of the other recent cases.

Police would release no other information about the suspect arrested Friday.
