SEATTLE -- After hearing from victims of domestic violence, King County Council members decided Wednesday to restore spending plans for programs that help protect women and children.

Council members decided to restore nearly $1.4 million to fund programs at 2009 levels for prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault and for legal aid programs that help victims obtain restraining orders.

The budget will be released Thursday and is set to be adopted Monday by the full council.
