As developers replace older apartment buildings with newer, more-expensive high rises, some people are finding it harder to find an affordable place to live in Seattle.

KING 5's Dennis Bounds sat down with Sanjay Bhatt, a business reporter with The Seattle Times, to talk about this trend.

These newer units are sometimes renting for more than twice as much as the older buildings they're replacing. Rents are also going up in the older, cheaper buildings because renters are finding they have fewer options.

"And these are people who don't have cars, they walk to work," Bhatt says. "And they certainly aren't looking to move all the way out to the suburbs to afford an apartment."
