SEATTLE -- While forest fires in British Columbia are proving to be a serious threat to life and land to the north, its impact is being felt here in the Puget Sound as well.
The wildfires are sending out a lot of smoke, which in turn is translating into hazy skies all around Western Washington.
Fortunately, it is not having any significant impact on air quality in our region, but it is making its mark on the how the skies look. KING 5 viewers submitted dozens of photos of the amazing spectacular red and orange sunset we enjoyed Sunday night.
It all has to do with the way the light diffuses and reflects through the haze created by the forest fires as it drifts down from the north.
The good news for Western Washington residents is that it appears to be just a treat for eyes. Air quality here is not taking a hit and the haze is expected to clear out a little later Monday.
