NORTH SPOKANE COUNTY- Washington State Patrol says one person is dead after a two car crash on Highway 2 north of Chattaroy.
Troopers say just after noon on Saturday a driver was heading southbound when he abruptly made a U-turn in front on an on-coming SUV. The SUV couldn't avoid the other driver and they crash.
The driver of the SUV is described as a man in his 60's. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital. His female passenger was also taken to the hospital but by ambulance.
The driver who made the U-turn was pronounced dead at the scene.
Highway 2 will remain closed for at least the next three hours.
