SEATTLE – The family of a Latino man seen on video being stomped on and yelled at with profanities by Seattle police say they are "disappointed" with the conduct of the officers.

In the April 17 video, Martin Monetti, 21, is seen lying face down on the ground as Detective Shandy Cobane stomps on his hand and yells "I'm going to beat the f---ing Mexican piss out of you homey. You feel me?" Officer Mary Woollum also appears to stomp on Monetti's leg. Monetti was lying face down on the ground at the time.

Police were searching for suspects, described as Latino, in a robbery that happened nearby in the South Lake Union neighborhood.

"Mr. Monetti and his family are upset and very disappointed that members of the Seattle Police Department would engage in this unacceptable comment," said attornies for the Monetti family in a press release. "Their hope is that this incident will be used as an impetus for needed changes in the Department, so that this type of behavior will never happen again."

Police arrested two men in those early morning hours, but let Monetti go.

One of the robbery victims who watched the video tells KING 5 that Monetti was with the men who tried to rob him.

The NAACP is calling this a hate crime and has asked prosecutors file malicious harassment and assault charges against the officers involved.
