SEDRO WOOLLEY, Wash. -- When Holland Drug opened in late 1800s, prescriptions cost pennies. Things have changed.

Now, after 116 years in business, the popular Sedro-Woolley Drug Store is closing its doors.

Holland Drug has been in a few locations over the years, but It's believed to be the oldest business in Skagit County operating under
its original name.

Five years ago the store was purchased by Omnicare Inc., a fortune 500 company. Omnicare Inc. decided to close the store earlier this month.

"It's a shame to see this happen," says Jerry Willins. Willins became part owner of Holland Drug in 1968. He became full owner in the 70's and sold to Omnicare.

"I think I would have done things differently had I known they were going to sell it," he says. "The community is losing its local business owners."

Employees will be moving out of the store over the weekend.
