SEATTLE -- 911 service was knocked out for several hours in Washington and Oregon Thursday morning.
CenturyLink said the outages in each state happened within 30 minutes of each other and were isolated incidents.
The Oregon outage began about 1:30 a.m. at Sheridan, Ore., during some maintenance work, the company said.
The cause of the Washington outage is still under investigation.
All service was restored just after 7 a.m.
Several counties sent out automated calls to residents overnight to inform them of the outage and to provide alternate numbers to call in case of emergency.
