PULLMAN, Wash. -- Police said on Monday that they are checking into several leads into the attack on a Washington State University professor. Officers asked the public to help identify all the people circled in yellow in the slide-show attached to this story.

The pictures are in connection to an attack of a Washington State University faculty member.  It happened on Saturday just before 2 a.m. at the Adams Mall parking lot on Northeast Colorado Street.

Police believe Dr. David Warner was trying to break up a fight. They say surveillance shows Warner standing between two groups who appear to be fighting.  Officials believe he was not the intended target.

When police arrived, they found Warner unconscious with a serious head injury.  He was taken to Pullman Regional Hospital and then later to Sacred Heart Medical Center.  Warner is in critical condition.

At this point in the investigation, it is unclear what events led to the assault.  Contact Detective Brock Germer at (509) 334-0802 with any information. A Facebook page has been created to support Warner.
