Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and King County Executive Dow Constantine will travel to New York City as part of Chris Hansen's pitch to NBA owners.
Groups from Sacramento and Seattle will make presentations to twelve NBA owners on Wednesday.
This group will make a formal recommendation between Wednesday's meeting and the final NBA vote, which will take place again in New York City in mid-April.
Part of the pitch will include Seattle's long-term economic vitality and corporate support. The presence of McGinn and Constantine helps to emphasize the political support from the city and county for the return of an NBA team to the Seattle area.
The city of Stockton, Calif., became the most populous U.S. city to enter bankruptcy Monday. This may affect Sacramento's bid as Stockton is less than 50 miles away.
The presentations are closed to the public and media.
