KING 5 has obtained new surveillance video inside the Munchbar nightclub during the December 24 shooting in Bellevue that left one man dead.
The video shows the entrance to the Munchbar was lively and cheerful that night before the shooting occurred. The night started on a major high. The Seahawks had just beaten the San Francisco 49ers and some Seahawk players were among those celebrating at the Munchbar.
The video clearly shows bouncers checking for fake IDs and frisking patrons for weapons. Somehow, suspect Ja’mari Jones was allegedly able to get in with both.
Inside the club, crowded with 600 people and standing room only, trouble was beginning to brew. The video shows commotion in the bar area. It quickly spills across the floor and erupts in punches. At one point, a gun comes out.
Witnesses describe hearing several shots. Cameras outside the club pick up the pandemonium. Panicked partiers race out the door, stunned and confused.
Not everyone ran. One woman saw the victim on the floor and tried to help.
"I checked his pulse once, when I first got to him and he didn't have one,” she said. “At that point I didn't have much hope."
The victim, 30-year-old DeShawn Miller, didn’t make it.
Suspect Ja’mari Jones was arrested during a stolen vehicle a week later and was charged with murder.
