Washington Gov. Jay Inslee says 6 underground tanks at at Hanford Nuclear reservation are leaking.
Inslee disclosed the information after a meeting with Energy Secretary Steven Chu Friday.
The latest development comes a week after the U.S. Department of Energy confirmed one of the single-shell tanks at the nation’s most contaminated nuclear site was leaking around 150 to 300 gallons of liquid per year, raising concerns of other single shell tanks built at the same time.
