Washington Department of Transportation officials have confirmed State Transportation Secretary Paula Hammond has retired from her position.
While details were not immediately available, a WSDOT spokesperson sant a letter to employees Tuesday morning announcing she will be leaving in March.
Meanwhile, Gov. Jay Inslee is preparing to name several new cabinet choices, including a new secretary at the Department of Transportation. An Inslee spokesperson said the appointments would be announced in a press release Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Inslee has been in office for more than a month but has left several cabinet appointments unfilled.
