The Federal Aviation Administration will be issuing its final decision on commercial flights out of Paine Field on Monday.
Snohomish County council members John Koster and Dave Somers have received a letter from the Executive Aaron Reardon’s office confirming the Monday announcement.
All indications are that the decision will be a final stamp of approval for up to 23 flights-per-day out of Paine Field, but the FAA is not commenting before the Monday announcement.
In 2008, Horizon Air and Allegiant Air of Las Vegas asked Snohomish County, which owns and operates Paine Field, for permission to fly from the airport. That began a lengthy environmental review process which ended with a finding of ‘No Significant Impact’ in September, which prompted a 30 day comment period that ended earlier this month.
