Northwest Harvest shared their picks for the "shelf of shame." From kangaroo pate and armadillo meat, to canned food that appears to have been packaged in the 1950s, they've seen it all.

People who work at food banks find their share of outdated and funky items among the donation boxes.

Northwest Harvest has seen their share of crazy donations. From kangaroo pate and armadillo meat, to canned food that appears to have been packaged in the 1950s, they've seen it all.

Northwest Harvest feeds the hungry across the state. The most desired items: proteins like canned tuna and chicken, chili, canned vegetables, baby food.

The folks at Northwest Harvest just ask that you donate only items that you would be willing to eat yourself - and please check the expiration date!

If you can’t donate food consider a cash donation. Northwest Harvest can serve a family of three for just 67 cents.

Just text "HOMETEAM" to 85944 to make a $10 donation, or donate at US Bank branches and Safeway stores in Western Washington.

This Saturday is the KING 5 Hometeam Harvest. We'll be out collecting donations across Western Washington. Drop off donations at any of 10 collection sites.
