An Alaska Airlines pilot from Washington state was found dead on a freeway in Los Angeles Tuesday evening.

Police received reports of a body on the Golden State Freeway in Burbank around 6 p.m. Investigators found the body of white male, apparently dumped near a freeway offramp, and identified the body as Captain Lee Morris of Richland, Wash.

Alaska Airlines officials said Morris, 55, was a 26-year employee with Horizon and Alaska Airlines. He is survived by his fiancee, who also lived in Richland.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Captain Morris, who was a highly respected pilot and 26-year veteran at Alaska. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lee's fiancée and other loved ones. He will be greatly missed by his fellow pilots and all employees at Alaska," Gary Beck, Alaska Airlines vice president of flight operations said in a released statement.

Investigators have not yet released a cause of death.
