Transformer fire causes outage in Mountain Home

MOUNTAIN HOME -- A transformer fire caused a power outage in west Mountain Home Monday morning.

Idaho Power spokesman Brad Bowlin said about 748 customers were without power beginning at 6:30 a.m. The outage lasted about an hour.

Idaho 51 is reduced to one lane between South 14th West Street and Idaho 67. Drivers should expect delays or take another route.

The fire is out, but there are downed power lines in the area, according to the Idaho Transportation Department. Idaho Power crews are working to repair the transformer.

Interstate 84 was blocked in both directions near milepost 91 earlier Monday morning, but has since been reopened.
