With the video game publisher poised to reveal the cover star of its pro football video game, Electronic Arts is offering the first glimpse at the next Madden NFL. Seattle Sehawks cornerback Richard Sherman is up against Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the final round.

EA Sports launched the first trailer for Madden NFL 15, starring Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly.

"That was a really cool experience," says Kuechly on working with EA. "You get to see how much work goes into these trailers."

Kuechly got to pair up with a video game franchise he grew up with, playing Madden on PlayStation 2. He recalls playing with friends in games where teams were picked at random. Watch the trailer

Kuechly says he played during "the Michael Vick era," when the quarterback then playing for the Atlanta Falcons during the 2000s was one of the most difficult players to shut down. "You get him and you could run around all day," he says.

The trailer notes a transformation in defense, including new pass rush moves and "redesigned logic" for man or zone coverage. More details will likely be revealed during next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.

The trailer also features the Panthers facing the Seattle Seahawks, with Kuechly taking down Marshawn Lynch in the backfield.
