Have a quick byte of power ups and general updates for this week.

Jackery Portable Chargers

As we become more and more dependent on our digital devices, battery life becomes an essential necessity.  Casual users can get away with charging their phones or tablets every other day or in some cases overnight.  However, heavy users can burn through a battery in hours.  Those heavy users, and some who are just cautious, carry spare chargers with them or plug in to their desktops at work.  If you are on the go portable battery packs can become one of your best friends.  Jackery wants to be one of your friends.

Jackery specializes in portable chargers for people on the go.  They have three models; the Jackery Mini, the Jackery Bar, and the Jackery Giant.  All three have things in common;
•    A secured battery with four layers of safety protection
•    Advanced powerlock technology giving each a standby time of up to 6 months
•    A strong stylish aluminum housing

As expected, each size of Jackery portable charger provides different levels of extra battery time for your devices.  The Mini can give you up to 50 hours extra time, the Bar up to 120, and the Giant up to a whopping 220 hours worth of extra time.  These times are dependent on the device and how hard you are using it.  I’ve used each and they have provided reliable charging power on almost everything I’ve thrown at them.  I’ve gotten full recharges on my cell phone, portable speaker, iPod, and PSVita.  Recharging my first generation iPad was iffy.  It seemed to recharge only when, and if, it wanted to.  One fun experiment was to recharge not only my PSVita, but the Nyko Power Grip I use with it.  Surprisingly the Jackery Giant charged both up with ease.  Charging up my devices was fairly quick.  You will need your device’s own standard USB cord though.  The Jackery products only come with their own standard USB to micro USB cable, which you can use if your device has a micro port.  The Jackery Giant has the bonus of two standard USB out ports so you can charge two devices at once.

Both the Jackery Bar and the Jackery Giant have LED flashlight built into them.  At first I thought this was an odd add-on.  Until I went to charge up the Jackery Bar at work.  When I went to plug it into my computer I realized it was kind of dark under my desk and I couldn’t see which way the USB plug needed to go.  The “odd add-on” flashlight suddenly became very useful.  Lastly I love their aluminum housing.  Most portable battery packs I’ve used get very warm when charging other items.  One I had prior even felt like it was close to burning.  The Jackery portable batteries do get warm, but never seem to get uncomfortable.  The aluminum allowed for good distribution of the heat.

I really liked the Jackery portable chargers and can easily recommend them for whatever you need power for.  For more information on the Jackery Portable Chargers see their web site.

Updates

My number two game for 2012 was Papo and Yo, which is now available on Steam for PC gamers.  It looked good before, it looks even better on a PC.  The controls are your choice of keyboard and mouse or gamepad; each work well.  The powerful story still makes an impact on the gamer and my score of 5 out of 5 still stands.

Last week I reviewed Injustice: Gods Among Us.  This week it has gotten its first piece of downloadable content, Lobo.  Now you can “fraggin’” fight as the “main man” himself, intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo.   I will include his two trailers below.  Also available are the Teen Titans skin pack (which includes skins for Cyborg, Deathstroke and Raven) and the Bad Girls skin pack (with skins for Wonder Woman, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn).  Just a few things to enhance your gaming experience.
