SEATTLE -- Whenever you use your cell phone for things like our mobile applications, did you know you're ahead of the rest of the nation?

Seattle has the nation's fastest 3G network, according to 13-city wireless speed tests conducted by PCWorld.

"And whether it's the topology or the wireless networking heritage that Seattle has or the fact that there's hundreds of thousands of tech savvy users in the region, Seattle certainly is at the forefront of high speed wireless," said Greg Sullivan, Microsoft.

That's crucial to a society that's using more and more devices and finding more ways to live the digital life.

"I can have a Netflix application on my phone, ride the bus home and choose a movie that my daughter and I want to watch, get a preview of it on the phone, and then when I get home it's all cued up on my X-box 360," said Sullivan.

And the same survey said of the major phone carriers, AT&T has the fastest 3G speeds of all – something KING 5 found out last year in a nose to nose combat between the iPhone and the Blackberry. Iphone won, not by much.

The fact is we're all doing more with our phones, so the need for speed is continually evolving.

"So it will just get faster. 3G will become 4G and it will just get faster and better for all of us," Sullivan.
