In a case of shameless self-promotion / uber-football geekdom, EA Sports Madden NFL ’12 has simulated this Sunday’s Super Bowl between the New York Giants and New England Patriots. And just like four years ago, it will be a nail-biter. This time, it will be won by….

The Giants get a 1st Quarter lead when Eli Manning hits, who else, Victor Cruz for a touchdown.
Patriots get the lead back in the 2nd Quarter on a Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski touchdown. 10-7 Patriots.
Manning puts the G-Men back on top with a touchdown pass to Hakeem Nicks. 17-10 Giants at the half.
Following a Brady interception in the end zone, the Giants march downfield, ending in an Ahmad Bradshaw touchdown run. 24-10 Giants with 6:29 left in the 3rd Quarter.
With under 10 minutes left in the game, the Patriots rally. Brady hits Aaron Hernandez for a touchdown to cut the lead to 7.
Following a Manning interception, Brady connects with Wes Welker to tie the game at 24 with 1:50 to play.
Eli steps up and leads the Giants to a 40-yard Lawrence Tynes field goal as time expires. The Giants win their fourth Lombardi Trophy, 27-24.
Over the past eight years, the Madden preview game has correctly picked the Super Bowl winner six times. The two times it was wrong was last year – picking the Steelers over the Packers – and four years ago when it picked the Patriots over the Giants. Of course, just about everyone picked then-undefeated New England to win.
Yes, Seahawks fans, the Madden simulation did pick the Steelers to beat Seattle in Super Bowl XL. The simulated game was much closer than the real one. Madden predicted a 24-19 Pittsburgh win, compared to the 21-10 real life result.
No word on whether the Seahawks fans had issues with the officiating after the Madden version, too.
