How high can you go in Jelly Jumpers?

Do you like jelly?  How about jumping?  Developer, Mobirate, and Publisher, Chillingo, feel these two things should go together in a game called Jelly Jumpers.  Sound messy?  It is, but in a good way.

Belly (a blue jelly boy), Jelly (a yellow jelly girl), and Nelly (a red jelly vampire or bat) have decided to see who can jump the highest in the house and...   Ok I made that part up, there is no story.  Belly, Jelly, and Nelly are three characters in the game though.

Controls and Gameplay

Jelly Jumpers is one simple game to play.  Just tap the screen and your jelly character jumps.  The goal is to jump from spinning ball to spinning ball as high as you can.  Chaining jumps together without touching the wall nets you extra points and multipliers.  At certain points a random star will fly out.  Catch the star and your points will be doubled for a short time.
There are coins and gems to collect in Jelly Jumpers also.  These allow you to unlock different backgrounds, houses, power -ups, and other jelly characters (you start with Belly only).  You can earn these the hard way by playing the game or you can buy them through an in-app store to unlock everything.

Graphics and Sound

The graphics for Jelly Jumpers is very colorful and cartoon styled.  The characters are cute.  Jelly looks like she could be Ms. Pac-Man's sister.

The music is fun and playful, not bothersome at all.  If it is not to your taste you can mute it.

Jelly Jumpers is one of those games that will sneak up on you.  It looks innocent and easy at first, and then it gets you.  Do you time your jumps to catch the next spinning ball (and keep your jump streak going) or do you gather coins?  When I first sat down with it I didn't think too much about it, until I looked up and realized an hour had gone by.  The allure of trying to get higher, to get a longer jump streak, or to just get more coins is strong.  I've been stopping every few minutes while writing this to play it.

As addicting as the game can be one major problem reared its ugly head; crashes.  The first session I sat down with the game it played just fine.  Like I said, I played Jelly Jumpers for an hour before I realized it.  Ever since that first session the game now crashes out.  Sometimes after I hit play, or sometimes after completing a game, it would crash out of the game completely.  It's very frustrating, especially after I had so much fun during that first session.

Jelly Jumpers is a very fun and addicting game, but its crashing bug is a huge problem.  I give Jelly Jumpers a 3 out of 5 with the option to bump that score up if they fix the crashing bug.

Jelly Jumpers is rated 4+ in the iTunes App Store.  It is available now for free exclusively in the iTunes App Store.
