SEATTLE – A Sound Transit Link light rail train and a car collided Monday morning, causing minor injuries to the car's driver and a major inconvenience to other commuters.

It happened just before 8 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Way at S. Brandon Street.

Police said the train was southbound when it hit the Mercury Cougar that was trying to cross MLK. The train was going about 30 mph when it t-boned the car.

The man driving the car made an illegal turn, police said (h/t Seattle Times). He was handcuffed at the scene and police were investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash.

Train service was disrupted between the Othello and Columbia City stations. Many of the Link light rail riders transferred to cabs.

Correction: Sound Transit's Link light rail was misidentified in an earlier version of this article.
