College record: 249-132-7, 1 national championship; NFL record: 3-10 -- One and done. That was the NFL story for Lou Holtz. Following a combined 46-33-3 record at William & Mary and North Carolina State, Holtz lasted just one season with the New York Jets, resigning with one game left in the season. After that, he jumped back into college with stops at Arkansas, Minnesota and saw his greatest success at Notre Dame, winning a national title. After a two year retirement, he coached six more seasons at South Carolina.
