A world renowned botanical garden on the Kitsap Peninsula, filled with exotic plants, is being auctioned off this month.
The Heronswood Gardens in Kingston and the entire 15-acre estate it sits on are being sold. The gardens, founded in 1987, feature three residence buildings, office and warehouse, greenhouse facilities and more than 10,000 plants, according to the private investment firm Racebrook which is selling the property. Many of the plants were collected during expeditions to Central and South America, China, Nepal and South Africa.
The gardens are located at 7530 NE 288th St.
The minimum bid is $749,000, which Racebrook says is 58 percent off the previously listed price of nearly $1.8 million. Deadline to receive a sealed bid is June 15.
There will be one more chance of an on-site inspection June 9 at 1 p.m. You must make an appointment at least 48 hours beforehand.
