Robbery suspect arrested in Newberg after 6-hour standoff

NEWBERG, Ore. -- A robbery suspect wanted for multiple outstanding warrants was arrested after a 6-hour standoff in Newberg, Oregon on Saturday night.

Dale William Martineau, 55, was arrested and lodged at the Yamhill County Jail.

Martineau has a warrant in Newberg Municipal Court for failure to comply on second-degree theft. He also has two warrants in Washington County for failure to appear on first-degree and third-degree theft and failure to appear on first-degree theft and possession of methamphetamine.

The operation began at about 6:35 p.m. Saturday when officers from multiple agencies surrounded a trailer at Chehalem Mobile Park located at 217 Old Highway 99W in Newberg where they believed Martineau was located.

Residents in the immediate area were evacuated, after which officers told Martineau to come out over a loud speaker. Martineau refused, so the Oregon State Police special weapons and tacts team was called into assist.

Martineau was taken into custody without injury shortly after midnight.

The following agencies assisted in the operation: Newberg-Dundee Police Department; Tualatin Police Department; Beaverton Police Department; Oregon State Police; and Yamhill County Sheriff's Office.
