On Sept. 11, 2001, Meteorologist Rich Marriott was working on KING 5 Morning News when word of the attacks happened. Marriott immediately began searching the Internet for any webcam images from New York. He found this one inside one of the towers.
"I can’t remember if it was in the “Top of the World” Restaurant or in the management office, but I pulled several shots until this last one and then the link would not update," said Marriott.
The time stamp shows the image taken at 8:53 a.m. That was 10 minutes before the second plane hit the south tower. The towers would collapse at 9:59 a.m. and 10:28 a.m.
"It is amazingly eerie how tranquil the view is looking out over Manhattan as the world was changing," said Marriott.
