On Thursday, Mar. 10, a devastating magnitude 8.9 earthquake struck off Japan's northeast coast triggering a massive tsunami.  In the hours that followed, officials feared hundreds dead and hundreds more missing.  The huge waves that roared ashore carried away ships, cars, homes, and triggered widespread fires.  Buildings collapsed, electricity and telephone lines are down, and roads are now covered with debris.

The American Red Cross is preparing to help the victims of the disastrous quake. To help; KING 5, KING5.com, NWCN and NWCN.com are once again activating Northwest Response - a partnership with US Bank to collect donations that will go specifically to the Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief Effort.

If you would like to help, we have set up several ways to make your giving easy.  All donations will go directly to the American Red Cross and their Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund.
