Portland's Rose Quarter MAX service resumes

PORTLAND, Ore – Good news for MAX riders: a big two-week construction project at the Rose Quarter is complete. And that means no more delays.

The Rose Quarter MAX Construction project shut down MAX service for two weeks at the Rose Quarter, while crews worked to replace aging equipment and tracks. Passengers had to take shuttles.

During that time, crews poured concrete, realigned the tracks, and replaced signals. Riders experienced delays of up to 45 minutes.

“Fortunately  I was able to find one bus that took me to and from work and home, but its been a lot more crowded, and its been about another 45 minutes tacked on to my route every day. So I’m looking forward to getting home at a decent hour,” said Kathleen Hubbard, who rides the Max.

Monday, crews put some finishing touches on the project, but it is completely back open.
