ABERDEEN, Wash. – Aberdeen police are investigating claims that a Grays Harbor County Commissioner illegally removed his opponent’s campaign signs.
Commissioner Frank Gordon said it’s all a misunderstanding. The opponent, Randy Ross said photographs prove Gordon is guilty.
“No doubt,” said Ross. “It’s very disappointing.”
After Ross noticed his signs kept getting taken down on the corner of Sumner and Willow in Aberdeen, a campaign volunteer set up a motion-activated camera to see if they could catch someone in the act.
Two pictures taken Wednesday afternoon appear to show Gordon walking into the area with campaign signs and then walking out carrying a Ross sign.
Gordon said admits he's the man in the photos, but said he was only picking up the sign that had been taken down by someone else.
He said he won’t do that again.
“Being a good guy got me in trouble, said Gordon.
Aberdeen police are investigating the incident as a misdemeanor.
