SUTHERLIN, Ore. — An Oregon man has made a political statement by hanging a likeness of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton from a tall crane about three miles south of Sutherlin, Oregon, according to multiple media reports.
The display, located near I-5, looks like a human figure wearing a black rubber wet suit, women's clothing and a blonde wig, according to a report from KVAL.
Signs attached to the crane read "VOTE TRUMP," "URANIUM ONE," AND "TREASON? ASK HER."
Also displayed in the area are toilets adorned with signs referring to the Bureau of Land Management and the Environmental Protection Agency, and two American flags hanging upside down.
According to the United States Flag Code, the flag should always be flown upright, except "as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property."
The man who created the display, Billy Pitner, spoke to KVAL. He said a pastor asked him to take it down, but he refused. He said he'll change the signs each day.
"I'm allowed to have my feelings, right, wrong, or indifferent,” Pitner told the Eugene station on Sunday evening. “Here you are. Got your attention, didn't it?”
The News-Review (Roseburg) reports that the display has attracted national attention from political websites and television stations from as far away as North Carolina.
