SPOKANE COUNTY-- In Spokane County, election officials counted about 84,000 ballots.
One of the hottest issues was Proposition Four. It would have amended the city charter to add a community bill of rights. As of Tuesday night, the issue was failing. There are also three Spokane City Council races on the ballot. In District 1, Position 2 which covers part of downtown and the northeast side, Amber Waldref is leading Mike Fagan with about 63% of the vote. The seat is being vacated by Al French. French’s term is up. For council District 2, Position 2, the south side of Spokane, Jon Snyder is edging ahead of Mike Allen 52% to 48%. Allen was appointed to the council when Mary Verner became mayor. In District 3, Position 2, in northwest Spokane, incumbent Nancy McLaughlin has the lead. Spokane County will release more numbers Wednesday.

A Community Bill of Rights would have been such a good start to rebuilding our neighborhoods too . . .: alas, our individuating greed hath been too firmly implanted. Woe . . .

The very existence of Propositions #2 thru #4 shows just how liberal, indeed socialistic, some would direct this country. I am SO thankful to the Spokane community for seeing through the veil and defeating this nonsense so resoundingly. Next step...those in favor of Prop 4 need to realize that this country is supposed to work on the principle of majority rule. The majority has spoken very clearly. It's time for you to put away this effort and forget it!

Proposition 4 was really a burr under the power brokers and special interest that run Spokane. I find it amazing that our community will allow a questionable deal like River Park Square to be built at the cost of some 70 million dollars of the public's money. And yet, how dare the little guy in Spokane want a fair deal from the City of Spokane!

What do "liberals" or "socialists" have to do with being humane beings? "Majority rule" sounds like mob rule to me. Your entire American government is "socialist"; public schools, FDIC, post office, armed services, judicial system, car emissions, hunting licenses, property taxes, income taxes, "sin" taxes: tis all socialism! Bailing out Citigroup, AIG, Goldman-Sachs, BoA, etc., that is not even "socialism", tis plain robbery! Destroying countries the world over, repeatedly even, and then rebuilding them 'in our image' what is that, corporate and governmental socialism! Tis indeed striking we put murderously corrupt warlords in power over there, I guess "we" are taking that rebuilding in our image seriously after all! Obviously with that kind of thinking domestic social justice is indeed an unfathomable concept. Har har har har
