SEATTLE – Exactly one week before votes are counted in the Washington state primary, a new KING 5 News poll shows Republican Clint Didier gaining ground in the U.S. Senate race, but not enough to put him in the top two.

The poll, conducted by SurveyUSA, found 41 percent of likely voters say they plan to vote for incumbent Democratic Senator Patty Murray while 33 percent plan to vote for Republican Dino Rossi. Didier was favored by 11 percent of likely voters.

Only the top two candidates will advance to November's general election.

Didier, an Eastern Washington farmer and former NFL player, has been building support especially among the Tea Party with his campaign theme of limiting size and scope of government.
