Seattle City Council Member-elect Kshama Sawant pledges to bring the $15 minimum wage to Seattle in 2014.

Sawant has not yet released details of her plan, but she's asking people to weigh in on the issue at 15Now.org starting January 2.

"2014 is going to be the year of 15 dollars an hour in Seattle," she told reporters at her first news conference since being elected.

Sawant says if it can't get passed through City Council, she'll find another way to get it done.

"If our bottom line is not able to be met simply through discussions in city government, then we have to take it to the people for a referendum," she said.

Sawant plans to meet with Mayor-elect Ed Murray before he releases his minimum wage plan on Thursday.
