WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina says she has some advice for Washington lawmakers as they take on issues such as health care and immigration reform: Don't try to tackle so many problems at once.
The Republican candidate hopes to take on three-term Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer next year but first has to get through California's GOP primary.
Speaking Wednesday to a group of reporters in Washington, D.C., Fiorina said the nearly 2,000-page health care bill recently passed by the House illustrates what's wrong in Washington. She says the bill would create as many problems for people as it solves.
Fiorina said she would prefer the legislation be more concise. For example, she said Congress could focus on helping people with pre-existing conditions gain coverage, then move on to the next set of problems.
