WASHINGTON (AP) — A pro-Democratic group is ramping up criticism of billionaire funders of ads that attack Senate candidates in five competitive states.

The Senate Majority PAC said Friday it will spend $3 million on TV to defend Democratic senators seeking re-election in North Carolina, Colorado, Arkansas and Louisiana. Another ad backs a Democrat seeking Michigan's open seat.

The ads denounce "out-of-state billionaires" behind millions of dollars in commercials criticizing these five candidates for supporting President Barack Obama's health care law.

The Colorado version of the ad does not mention Charles and David Koch (kohk) by name. But Democrats have been stepping up their complaints about the wealthy, conservative brothers' efforts.

Senate Majority PAC will spend one-third of its effort in North Carolina, where Sen. Kay Hagan has been hammered by Koch-backed ads.
