OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma Senate committee has approved a bill calling on schools to provide remediation opportunities for students who fail to get a high school diploma.
Republican Sen. John Ford of Bartlesville introduced the measure that the Senate Committee on Appropriations voted 16-3 for and sent to the full Senate for consideration.
Ford's bill would allow students who fail to meet the requirements for a high school diploma to re-enroll in their schools and retake whatever tests they fail until they get a proficient grade. It directs the schools to provide extra help to those students.
