SEATTLE - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Seattle’s International District. The body of a man in his 20’s was found near the corner of 12th Avenue South and South Main Street early Saturday.
More than 30 shots were fired and stray bullets hit nearby cars and businesses, according to police.
“Bullets don’t have names. They are going to go fly anywhere they want to,” said a concerned neighbor.
The neighbor, who did not want to be identified, heard the gunfire around 3am and called police.
Some of the bullets hit a nearby deli. Employees arrived at work just a few hours after the shooting.
“Why is there so many gunfire? I heard more than 30 shots. A few of them go through the window. What if we come here early,” said Thach Nguyen with Seattle Deli.
In just the past week, there have been multiple deadly shootings in Seattle.
"For the third time in a week, Seattle has suffered a devastating loss of life as result of guns,” said Seattle Mayor Ed Murray. "Once again, it is members of our East African community who feel the pain of this violence most directly. And once again, we as a city together mourn the loss of one of our young men taken too soon.”
Police have not made any arrests. Anyone with information should call 911 or the homicide tip line at 206-233-5000.
