PORTLAND -- A driving lesson went awry when a Portland teen apparently hit the wrong pedal and struck his dad Wednesday evening, officials said.
The father was standing behind the car when his son was backing up in the driveway of the home on Northeast 37th Avenue, said Portland Fire & Rescue Lt. Rich Chatman.
After striking his dad, the 16-year-old driver then plowed through the back of the garage and crashed into the neighbor's house, Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson said.
The father was not injured badly when the car hit him, but likely struck his head afterward, Simpson said. The dad was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with concussion symptoms.
Police did not release the names of the people involved.
