TIGARD, Ore. – The Tigard Festival of Balloons kicked off the annual festival Friday morning.
The festival, celebrating its 30th year, takes place June 20 – 22 at Cook Park on SW 92nd Ave in Tigard.
More than 20 balloons fly every morning of the festival between 5:30 and 6:15 a.m., weather permitting. Balloons did not fly Friday morning, but skies were clear enough Saturday to ignite balloons and set them aloft.
The hot-air balloons are also lit but grounded during the Friday and Saturday evening ‘night glows,’ showcasing the balloons’ designs at dusk.
The festival includes live music, a carnival, a beer garden, 5K run, kids activities, the Sunday Festival of Cars car show, and more.
Entry to the festival is $7 at the gate and kids 6 and under are free.
