PORTLAND -- A baby osprey is alive thanks to a man and his grandson, who saw the bird fall out of its nest and into the Multnomah Channel.

Jack Schoenke and his grandson Landon worried that it would drown, so they acted quickly, scooping it up and putting it in a box.

“We fed her fish and I kept her calm,” Landon explained. “I tried to feed her fish, but it got cooked in the sun.”

Landon even gave the brid a name: Ozzie.

Jack and Landon got in touch with the Audubon Society, and the group will help the bird recover.
