VANCOUVER – In about two weeks Clark County’s first recreational pot store will open in downtown Vancouver.

Main Street Marijuana, at 2314 Main Street, is currently remodeling the old Pacific Sterling and Jewelry store. The store is expecting its final inspection by the end of June. Remodeling still has a way to go. The old Sterling signage still adorns the outside of the building.

Owners hope to open by July 8 or as early as July 1.

If they do open early you might be able to shop for pot, and that other relatively contraband item for Oregonians, fireworks, on the same trip. Main Street Marijuana manager Ramsey Hamide told The Columbian that prices will start around $20 - $25 a gram. As their suppliers ramp up, he hopes prices would go down to $12 - $15 a gram.

It’s ironic that the store is opening in an old jewelry store, as one commenter on The Columbian’s site remarked that the initial prices were “damn near as expensive as gold!”
