VANCOUVER -- A woman's car was stolen in Vancouver Thursday afternoon as she went inside a business, police said.
The woman told police she went inside a building in the 11200 block of Northeast 4th Plain Boulevard just before 12:30 p.m., leaving her car running with a friend in the passenger seat, said Sgt. Fred Nieman of the Clark County Sheriff's Office.
"The suspect walked up to the victim's running car, opened the driver's door and climbed in," Nieman said. "The passenger became alarmed and immediately exited the car, leaving the suspect alone in the car."
The suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Grant Adam Kemper of Vancouver, then drove away.
A Clark County deputy quickly spotted the stolen car entering Interstate 205 northbound from 4th Plain Boulevard, Nieman said. The car was pulled over and Kemper was taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with first-degree robbery.
